Local Music Review

Write for us

We welcome clear, original pitches about local music, listening, songcraft, instruments, recording and the culture around making music. Bring a precise question and a reader who would enjoy thinking it through.

What makes a good pitch

Suggest one focused subject, explain the central idea and say what a reader will understand or notice by the end. Pitches should suit an evergreen publication, rely on material that can be checked and avoid requiring risky activities or professional advice.

The writing we seek

We value lively, informed writing that explains musical language without talking down to readers. A pitch may propose a comparison, an account of how something works, a historical perspective or a fresh way to listen. Please avoid broad topics that cannot be handled with care in one piece.

How to send a proposal

Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline and a brief note about your relevant experience or approach. A proposal is not a promise of publication.
